Why Do We Give?

Being generous is a big part of being a Christ Follower! It’s a common practice in the church, but most people wouldn’t list “giving” as their highlight of the week. Unfortunately, giving has been misconstrued in most modern church environments, but let us assure you, giving is NOT supposed to be a burden! In fact, the act of giving is supposed to be freeing! Generosity defined biblically should be tangible, selfless, communal, and cheerful!

Philippians 2:3-4 says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

Giving is not for the benefit of the church, but for your community and your relationship with Jesus! It always seems to get messy when talking about money in church, but giving financially is not “the backbone” of generosity! There are several ways to give! You can give with your time, your love, and your finances!

Please, don’t feel any pressure to give! We want you to experience what it means to give to your local church out of a spirit of joy and generosity!
